Happy 2017! I love the idea of New Year's resolutions, but I've never been big on making them (or keeping them, I should say). I have a habit of making grandiose plans when I'm hyper-motivated (like on January 1), and then feeling massively disappointed in myself when I inevitably fall short of my goals (like on January 2). Rather than make lofty resolutions I know are unrealistic each new year, I've taken to reflecting and reassessing small things in my life I can change (like trying to eat frozen pizza only once a week), and reaffirming the positive aspects of myself...

Black Friday/Small Business Saturday Sale

0 comments | Posted by Maren Misner on
I usually run a modest sale for Black Friday. This year I've decided to run a grandiose sale (Google tells me 'grandiose' is the most accurate antonym I'm looking for here), with 25% of all proceeds going to two nonprofits that are near to my heart right now. The sale: 40% off all prints 30% off everything else Free US shipping with coupon code FREESHIPPING2016SALE (enter this code at checkout - other discounts already applied; sorry international shoppers! Someday I'll offer free international shipping, too!) The sale will run Wednesday, November 23 - Tuesday, November 29 at 11:00pm. The nonprofits: 25% of...

The Tin Owl has a new helper. Meet Inca. The best cat in the whole entire world. (I might be biased.) Inca joined The Tin Owl family FIVE months ago - where does the time go?! I thought it was about time to introduce her properly. Inca came into my life in the way most wonderful things do - through a totally random pairing of timing and circumstance, just when I needed her most. Cool things about Inca: She plays fetch. Enough said. She's also really good at helping me work. Sometimes she looks like a darling little kitty cat. Sometimes she looks...

Happy fall! Holy crap, 2017 is only three months away. 2016 has been a year of change, a year of transition, a year of renewal. (I'm betting I'm not the only one who feels that way.) After lots of thinking, I've decided not to sell calendars this year. Instead, I created this year-at-a-glance calendar to give away as a printable download, as a way of saying " 'hey, thank you for your support these last few years' , 'you're amazing' , 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' , 'Look! Blueberries on a calendar! You get to look at blueberries every day for 365 days this year! Coooool!'...

El Camino de Santiago... 10 Years Later

0 comments | Posted by Maren Misner on
“He asked, that when he wandered far from his dreams, his heart press him and sound the alarm.” -Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist Today marks ten years since I arrived in Finisterre, Spain, at 'the end of the world', after walking 1000 km across the country along el Camino de Santiago. I'm feeling nostalgic and wanted to reflect some. I'm lost for words (as is usually the case when trying to describe certain experiences that mean so much), so I went back through some photos (taken on my first ever point & shoot digital camera - such cool technology at the...
